<descriptions><description descriptionType="Abstract">Mathematics is known to many as a complex and difficult learning area. Numerous studies have revealed that most learners got anxiety in learning mathematical skills. And for that reason, education experts introduced a tool that can be helpful in teaching the least-mastered skills in Mathematics, and that tool is called Strategic Intervention Material [SIM]. SIM caters to diverse learning needs by providing activities that suit to the level of learner’s interest and readiness, making them learn in their own pace. Also, SIM plays an important role in teaching mathematical skill especially in Key Stage 1 learners , wherein the development of numeracy/mathematical skills must be given a top priority. This study centered on Strategic Intervention Material and Performance of Grade One Learners in Mathematics. The study employed a descriptive method of research and sought to explore on the profile of grade one learners as to their parents’ educational background, combined family income, and number of family members. Likewise, the level of Mathematics performance of Grade one learners was determined before using SIM and after using SIM. Results of the study revealed that there was a significant difference in Mathematics performance of grade one learners before and after using SIM in teaching mathematical skills. Furthermore, the challenges encountered by the teachers on the use of SIM were: limited availability of resources, time constraint, and lack of training. Hence, an enhancement plan is designed.</description></descriptions>
